The Teeter Fit Spine LX9 is the most advanced inversion table to date and includes a lot of very nice features.

The LX9 is part of Teeters new for 2019 FitSpine range and possesses many of the same features as the slightly cheaper Teeter FitSpine X3 inversion table.

However, since the LX9 is the most advanced inversion table from the range it has a few more useful features when compared to the X3 inversion table from Teeters X-Series.

We will take a look at all of these features in the next section.

Teeter FlexTech backrest:

The new FlexTech backrest can be found on this LX9 inversion table and on the other Teeter X-series inversion tables.

As you can see in the product images, the FlexTech backrest really makes the inversion table stand out from the vast majority of inversion tables available.

You will also notice that the bed is not padded like many inversion tables these days, however there is a good reason as to why Teeter opt for this style of backrest.

As with the iconic ComforTrak backboards found on the Teeters EP-560 and EP-960 inversion tables, the LX9 and the X Series inversion tables have a smooth surface.

This is to allow for a better body slide, which allows for better spinal decompression when using a Teeter inversion table.

Padded and upholstered backboards can often cause friction while inverting whereas the smooth surface on Teeter tables let you slide down the backrest more easily, giving a better stretch with less effort.

Another reason for the molded contoured backrest is so that accessories (see next section) can be added to the backrest in order to enhance the users inversion sessions.

In addition to this, the non-padded backboard has 3 additional stretch grips surrounding the small black headrest cushion.

The stretch grip handles are great for providing additional stretching options while you invert.

The FlexTech bed also has an 8 point floating suspension system at the back which moves with your body and offers a wider range of motion and great comfort, thanks to its flexible design.

Lumbar Bridge and Accupressure Nodes accessories included:

The lumbar bridge and acupressure nodes were previously accessories that were only included on the LTD model of the Teeter EP range.

On the LX9 and the XSeries from Teeter they have now been included in the standard package.

As you can see in the image to the right, the bed on the Teeter LX9 inversion table has numerous ridges for placement of the accessories.

The lumbar bridge can be easily attached to the inversion table and there are numerous adjustment slots allowing the user to adjust the curve of the bridge.

You can set the lumbar bridge to a higher curve or a more subtle protrusion depending on the amount of lower back support you require. A great accessory for adding extra  support and traction to the lower regions of the back.

You will also see there are a number of placement options for the acupressure nodes, allowing you to place them wherever you feel they may be beneficial for adding a little extra pressure.

In many cases the inversion tether strap is just a plain black strip of fabric so there is a little trial and error when adjusting it.

If the price of the LX9 inversion table from Teeter is within your budget then this inversion table is certainly a worthwhile choice.

At the time of writing (Oct 2018) the LX9 has only just been released and it is one of (if not) the most advanced inversion tables on the market. It is also likely to be the most advanced inversion table for a fair few years, probably until Teeter release another upgraded model.

As you can see from the images above all 3 models are fairly similar. On the left is the Teeter FitSpine X1 inversion table, the X2 is in the middle and the X3 on the right.

The Similarities:

Each features the same FlexTech backrest and features a tether strap angle limitation device to restrict the inversion angle should you not wish to invert too much on certain sessions.

Each table also features comfortable wrap around ankle cups for secure support for your ankles while inverting.

All of the X-series inversion tables from Teeter also feature precision rotation which allows the user to easily control the inversion process. Simply by raising or lowering your arms you can balance the inversion table and rotate it in a controlled manner.

The tables also feature optional lock out in full inversion to keep the tables backrest securely in place when inverting fully.

The last similarity is the curved stretch bar you can see at the back of the inversion table on the lower back floor bar. The bar has been raised to provide a curve so that users have further support or an additional stretching support while inverting.

The Differences:

Side handles:

As you can see in the above images the X1 inversion table has fairly small side support handles when compared to the long full length side handles on the other two models.

For those comfortable with inversion this may be fine, however, personally I prefer longer side handles due to the extra support and assistance they can give while inverting and reverting.

Ez-Reach Ankle locks (not on X1 model): 

The Teeter X2 FitSpine inversion table features the standard EZ-Reach ankle lock system (pictured right) whereas the X3 and LX9 features the Deluxe EZ-Reach Ankle lock system.

As you can see in the above images both the X2 and X3 have extra long levers protruding from the ankle lock area.

These features are great should you wish to avoid bending down fully in order to secure your ankles. A good design feature for those who suffer from back pain.

The EZ-Reach ankle levers also provide good security and safety. The deluxe system (on the X3 and LX9) also has a triple lock system and a micro-adjustment feature.

Overall this is a nice feature to consider, should you wish to avoid putting strain on your back while bending down or if you prefer a little more security.

EZ-Stretch traction handles (X3 and LX9 only):

The traction handles are only available on the Teeter FitSpine X3 inversion table and the LX9 and are a great way to add traction at lower angles.

The traction handles are a good choice for those who are perhaps getting used to inversion, or for anyone who prefers not to invert at higher angles but still desires some good decompression from a inversion therapy session.

Simply pushing on these handles provides additional decompression and stretching options.

You can also rhythmically push the handles to allow for oscillated movement or use them as an additional aid when returning to an upright position from full inversion.

Are the Teeter FitSpine X-series Inversion tables a good choice?

Teeter are a company that put a lot of effort into constantly upgrading and redesigning their already excellent inversion tables. The X range are considered by many to be as good (if not better than) the also highly rated EP range from Teeter.

Since many of the features on the X-series can be found on models from the similarly priced EP range from Teeter, the new and improved FlexTech backrest is clearly the main reason to opt for this particular inversion table.

Overall the X-series inversion tables from Teeter are a very stylish choice that are guaranteed to provide the great functionality Teeter are famous for.

They also have plenty of useful features that are great for beginners and for those more experienced with inversion therapy.

Is the Teeter X3 FitSpine inversion table the best in the series?

Out of the X1, X2 and X3 models the X3 is clearly the most advanced and has the most features, it is however also the most expensive of the 3 (as you would probably expect).

The LX9 is again more expensive due to extra features such as a mounting board and a curved frame for easier access.

The X3 is clearly the best out of the 3 X series inversion tables. However, it really depends on how beneficial the extra features are going to be for you personally, as to whether you feel they are worth the extra cost.

If you are prone to spraining your back when bending over then the long ankle lever lock is probably going to be a valuable feature.

If not, then perhaps the the X1 FitSpine may be a better option. Although the lack of extra long side handles on the X1 model may be a little off putting to some inexperienced users.

The traction handles are also a nice addition not found on the X1 or X2, but will they be overly useful to you?

It is also worth pointing out that the X3 only costs a little bit extra than the X2. For the minor difference in price the longer ankle lock lever and the traction handles certainly make this table the best option if it is a toss up between the two.

The Evolution Health Airslant Inflatable inversion slant bed is a cheaper alternative to the Gravity Pal Traveler Portable Low Angle Inversion Table. However unlike the Gravity pal the the Evolution Airslant is more of an inflatable bed rather than a solid surface.

The Evolution Health Airslant Inflatable inversion slant bed comes complete with a free electric air pump for a limited time (shipped separately from the bed) which can inflate the bed in under a minute.

An electric air pump is recommended to inflate, however if the limited offer has finished and you do not have an electric pump, you can always use the built in hand press pump which inflates the bed in around 12 minutes.

Much like the other inversion board featured on this website (The Gravity Pal Traveler) this slanting inversion bed is an ideal option for using away from home and a fairly good option for storage.

It is also a great choice for those who find regular inversion tables a little too intense and prefer a more subtle and relaxed form of inversion.

Is the Evolution Health Airslant Inflatable inversion slant bed a good investment?

Due to the low price of the Evolution Health Airslant Inflatable Inversion Slant bed many feel it is a very good investment and it is certainly cheaper than similar products on the market.

However, one complaint some have is that it does not stay inflated which is clearly quite a big issue. Also some find it is quite a hassle to blow up if you are not using an electric pump.

On the other hand many are very satisfied with the Airslant board, especially due to the low price. Many remark upon the comfort the board provides and state that it is perfect for providing a nice amount of decompression without using an actual inversion table.

Overall this product is a fairly good option if you are in need of an affordable alternative to using an inversion table. It is a little unfortunate that some find the board does not stay inflated for long amounts of time but others seem to have had no issue with this.

Considering there are not many products like this on the market, this certainly is (at the time of writing) the best inversion slant board available for the price. However, if you are apprehensive due to the inflation issue you may wish to opt for a more solid option such as the Gravity Pal which unfortunately is not in a similar price range.

Before considering a purchase we would recommend you take a look at the buyer reviews to get a better overall opinion.

Hanging upside down is not always an option for everybody, therefore if you have certain health issues using an inversion table is not recommended as you can read in our health and safety section.

Luckily products like this Stamina in Line Back Stretch Bench are very good alternatives. Allowing you to give yourself a great body stretch, without hanging upside down and increasing blood flow to the head.

Due to the stretching nature of this simple yet effective device, if you do have any spinal issues it would be best to consult your doctor or physician before committing to a purchase.

This product also puts a lot of strain on the knees so if you have any knee related issues you should also check with a medical professional if using the Back Stretch Bench is a good idea!

The bench is available in a Pro (grey, featured below) and a standard version (blue).

The Pro grey variation comes with a padded support pillow for the neck and head area and also has a slimmer and slightly longer area near the top of the bench. Whereas the blue variation is a little cheaper. You can compare both models on visiting the retailer.

The design of the Stamina in Line Back Stretch Bench is very similar to the backrest on an inversion table, however it is a lot less effort to use overall.

The Stamina Back Stretch Bench is placed upon a flat surface and the first thing to do is adjust the height of the lower bar to match your height.

You adjust the height simply by lifting the slot pin mechanism and moving the bar along to the required height measurement, before releasing the pin mechanism to snap in place. In a similar fashion to how you would on an inversion table.

The lower dual ankle holders are also just like those seen on inversion tables. When getting on the board you simply lift the upper foam roller, position your ankles and lower the upper roller into a secure position.

In the picture to the right you can see there are two foam rollers near the top of the back rest (A feature not found on inversion tables).

When positioned on the backrest your arms go over these rollers to hold your upper body in place. So your armpits are positioned around these rollers.

The top rollers have 3 adjustment levels allowing you to make them wider (further away from the side of the backrest) or narrower.

When positioned on the board with your neck resting on the padded pillow and feet securely fixed, you can start adjusting the small lever at the side.

Moving the lever back and forth lengthens the overall bench length and this in turn, stretches your body out. The more you move the lever back and forth the more it will stretch out your body. Great for decompression and strength.

Overall the buyer reviews for the Stamina Inline Back Stretch Bench are very good and many buyers certainly feel that the Stamina Back Stretch Bench is a good alternative to using an inversion table.

It is also clear from the buyer reviews that many users who have regular and expensive chiropractor sessions no longer feel the need for them after using this very useful piece of kit. Many often state that the Stamina Inline Back Stretch Bench pays for itself in one use, since they avoid the need for a chiropractor altogether.

The Teeter EP-960 inversion table is (along with the similar EP-970 model), widely regarded as one of the best Teeter inversion tables available.

In addition to this Teeter are widely regarded by many, as the best inversion table brand to consider. Making the Ep-960, one of the best in the business!

If you have read through our post on inversion table features, you will quickly notice just from the images of the EP-960, that this table is packed with extra features. All of which add so much to an already exceptionally designed inversion table!

The Teeter Ep-960 is suitable for users between the heights of 4 ft 8″ up to 6 ft 6″, with a maximum weight capacity of 300 lbs.

*Please note – this is the Teeter EP-960 Ltd model which comes with acupressure nodes and a lumbar bridge included (more on these later). The only difference between the EP-960 Ltd and standard 960 are these additions and therefore all of the other features below apply to both the Ltd and standard models.

Contoured (ComforTrak) backrest with built in grips:

If you have already had a look around at other inversion tables, you may be thinking the backrests on Teeter tables do not look as good as many of the padded inversion tables.

However, inversion tables from Teeter opt for this particular style of backrest as it is far more effective for spinal decompression. Especially when compared to padded backrests that allow the body to sink into them.

Whereas a padded backrest creates more friction due to the body sinking into it, on a smooth Teeter backrest you can effortlessly slide down the backrest way more easily.

You can therefore fully stretch out your spine and back muscles more easily.

The Teeter Comfort Cushion can be bought separately for anyone wishing to add padding to their Teeter table

The EP-960 Teeter backrest also features 3 built in stretch grips, 2 each side of the padded black headrest and one at the top of the table bed above the headrest.

These grips allow for even more stretching options that simply would not be possible on an inversion table with a padded bed!

If you are worried at all that the Teeter bed may not be as comfortable as other models. Simply take a look at the reviews from buyers in the next tab, they are sure to convince you otherwise!

One last thing to mention is the thin lines you’ll have noticed scattered around the backrest. These are present so you can add additional features to the backrest such as the lumbar bridge and acupressure nodes.

You can even add a Teeter branded comfort cushion (not included with Ltd or standard model) should you insist upon having a padded backrest!

EZ angle tether strap inversion limiter & EZ Reach ankle lock: 

Although an inversion angle limiting tether strap isn’t exactly a mind blowing feature, the tether straps on Teeter tables are a bit better than other tables.

This is mainly due to the fact that they have incremental angle markings at 20, 40 and 60 degrees, making it easy to limit the inversion angle more precisely.

As with all tether strap angle limiters you have the option to remove the strap, should you not wish your inversion to be limited!

The patented EZ reach ankle lock is a really nice feature which significantly reduces the need to bend while securing your ankles into the Ergo Embrace ankle supports.

The ankle lock features triple lock security for exceptional safety while inverting, while the ergonomic ankle supports ensure that weight is evenly and comfortably distributed around the feet.

Stretch Max handles and traction handles:

The long side handles that feature on the EP-960 are a fairly standard addition to most inversion tables.

They are particularly useful for help when returning to the upright position after inversion and can also be used for additional stretching.

On the other hand, the inclusion of traction handles is something you are unlikely to find on other inversion tables.

The traction handles on this Teeter table allow the user the option of increasing decompression at lower angles. They can also be used for oscillation while inverted for even more decompression aid.

One last stretching implement is built into the lower floor bar at the back of the inversion table.

In the featured images above, you can see the bar raises in the middle allowing the user to easily grab hold of the bar when inverted to stretch out.

Acupressure Nodes and Lumbar Bridge (included with EP-960 Ltd):

Both the acupressure nodes and lumbar bridge come included with the EP-960 Ltd package or they can be purchased separately.

The lumbar bridge is a great addition for adding support and deeper decompression to the lower back area while inverting.

Depending on your preference, you can adjust the lumbar bridge to protrude more outwards from the table or have it provide a more subtle curve.

As you can see in the image to the right, below and above the bridge support are various indents for these adjustments.

The 8 colorful acupressure nodes can also be placed throughout various locations over the ComforTrak bed. They can even be placed upon the lumbar bridge due to the bridge also containing the required placement slots.

The eight nodes come in pairs and each pair varies in height to provide varying degrees of pressure.

While upon the bed you can shift your weight around the nodes to provide a shiatsu style massage sensation, or simply rest to maintain steady pressure.

Is the Teeter EP-960 A good choice?

Since writing this the new and improved Teeter FitSpine inversion tables have been released and therefore the EP-960 is no longer considered the best Teeter choice. You can read all the about the Teeter X3 Fitspine inversion table here and see the differences in each FitSpine model.

However, when it comes to a Teeter inversion table, you can always expect it to be a very good choice of table. So the EP-960 is still a decent choice even with the release of the FitSpine tables.

After all, Teeter are a brand that puts everything into making their inversion tables very high quality and very safe.

Unlike other inversion tables, Teeter tables are FDA registered medical devices and are put through very rigorous testing, to ensure their high quality and effectiveness is always at its best.

Anyone in doubt of just how good the Teeter brand is, need only read some of the buyer reviews in the next tab or on visiting the retailer.

The Teeter EP-960 Ltd is not only high in quality, it is also comfortable and very effective for back pain issues.

The one minor problem for some may however be the price.

It is certainly debatable if this is the best inversion table around, however it is certainly among the best that are on offer.

The Health Gear ITM5500 is one of our recommended inversion tables that feature heat and vibration massage functionality.

The Health Gear ITM 5500 is fairly good value for money and has some very nice features.

Its bold racing style design is also something that sets it apart from many other inversion tables.

One minor issue some have however, is this inversion tables inability to go fully into 90 degree inversion. It does however, get very close to the full 90 degrees, but users are unable to hang freely from the backrest.

4 inch thick padded ‘racing style’ backrest:

The red and black backrest on this particular model really helps it to stand out from the crowd.

The racing style bed area is padded with 4 inches of memory-style foam, for firm yet comfortable stress free inversion therapy sessions.

The heating pad can be placed in the center of the padded backrest and seamlessly integrates to the design of the bed.

You can also remove the heat and vibrate pad should you prefer and the padded backrest remains a highly comfortable feature.

Due to the contoured design of the backrest it is also provides very good support to the user.

Pin selector angle limiter, extended ankle lever and rear stretch bar:

These extra features really add some nice touches to this Health Gear inversion table.

The pin selector angle limitation device is a system that is increasing becoming more and more popular.

If you wish to limit the angle of your inversion session you can do so by placing the limiting rod into one of the marked angle slots.

You can choose to limit the angle to 20, 40 or 60 degrees, or opt to not use the device to allow for (almost) full 90 degree inversion.

The pin system is very easy to use and quick to adjust, although some may find it a little limiting due to there only being 3 angle options to choose from.

The extended ankle lever is also becoming a popular addition to modern inversion tables.

It is particularly useful for those wishing not to put any additional strain upon their back while securing their ankles into the dual foam rollers.

The lever reduces the need to bend down too far when securing yourself onto the table, as is sometimes required on some other inversion table models.

The raised bump on the rear lower frame bar is also a great addition which can provide extra stability while inverted.

It also allows the user to stretch themselves a little more while in an inverted position.

Advanced heat and vibration massage pad:

The heat and vibration massage pad on the ITM-5500 inversion table runs all the way up the inside of the backrest, providing some soothing and relaxing heat and vibro massage while you invert.

The pad is electrically powered and can be plugged into a main socket to operate.

It also features a wired remote control which allows the user to adjust the heat and vibration settings, while they are inverted.

You also have the option to remove the pad should you require.

This also allows the heat pad to be used elsewhere such as on the bed or a sofa.

Is the Health Gear ITM5500 heat and vibration massage Inversion table the best choice?

When it comes to inversion tables that feature heat and massage functions, there a some pretty good options to choose from.

Due to its fairly good price the Health Gear ITM 5500 inversion table is certainly one of the best options currently available.

Even if you opt not to use the heat and vibro massage pad, the ITM5500 is still a very good inversion table overall.

The extra features and the large padded backrest make it a very functional, comfortable and well built inversion table.

As is found with many inversion tables that feature heat and massage pads, there are a few complaints that the heat and massage functions are not particularly strong.

This however, is to be expected considering the price.

You simply will not get the same quality of heat or massage on an inversion table, that you would expect to find on a massage chair or high end massage product.

Overall this is a very good heat and vibrate inversion table to consider, just don’t expect too much from any heat and vibrate inversion table in this price range.

The Innova ITM 4800 advanced heat and massage therapy inversion table is a very similar table in many respects to the lower priced Innova ITX 9600 (one of the best budget inversion tables currently available.)

The main difference with this table is the heat and vibration massage pad. In fact this feature is really the only reason you would opt for this inversion table over the ITX 9600.

If you have no interest in the heat and vibration massage pad we recommend you save some cash and have a look at the Innova ITX 9600 inversion table.

On the other hand if you are on the lookout for a fairly well priced inversion table that has heat and massage functions this is one of the best available!

Padded backrest and adjustable headrest:

The large and fairly wide padded backrest is a feature that is commonly found on many modern inversion tables and is always a nice feature that provides welcome comfort.

The adjustable headrest however is a less common feature.

The adjustable headrest is useful as it allows the user to customize the table a little more to their body length and comfort preference.

The footrest can also be adjusted in small increments also providing even more specification.

Pin Selector angle limiter:

If you wish to limit the angle at which you invert at on this inversion table you can use the pin selector device on the side of the table.

While this system is a little more rigid than the usual tether strap device, there are plenty of angles to choose from.

When using the Innova ITM4800 you have the choice of 5 angular increments as well as full 180 degree inversion.

The angle can be limited to either 15, 30, 45, 60 or 85 degrees. These can be selected by simply placing the selector rod into the corresponding slot.

There is also a 90 (180) degree slot on top of the device where you can place the pin if no restriction is desired.

Heat and vibration massage lumbar pad:

The real stand out feature is the lumbar pad with the heat and massage functions.

It is fairly common for heat and massage functions and pads on inversion tables to feel a little useless to some users.

On other models many will state how ineffective the heat was, or how weak the massage is. However on this model, many reviewers feel it is a very good feature.

The pad is powered by the mains and can be plugged into a wall socket to operate.

The wire for the pad is also fairly long so you don’t have to worry about setting the inversion table up near a power outlet.

Is the Innova ITM4800 heat and vibration massage Inversion table one of the best options?

The Innova ITM 4800 is a very good inversion table to consider, it has very positive reviews and the heat and massage pad is a great addition!

However before committing to this table be sure to take a look at the more advanced Innova ITM 5900 inversion table.

While the 5900 inversion table from Innova does cost a tiny bit extra, it is overall a better and slightly more advanced inversion table.

It also comes complete with a full spinal massage and heated lumbar pad which covers more of the spinal area compared the lumbar pad on this 4800 model.

The buyer reviews for this ITM4800 Innova inversion table are very positive overall and this is one of the most popular heat and massage inversion tables currently available.

It is also very well priced and one of the cheapest heat and massage inversion tables.

Overall we (and many others) feel the Innova ITM 4800 heat and massage therapy inversion table is a very good table to consider.

However, due to the pricing of the Innova ITM5900 often being similar to this model, the ITM4800 is overshadowed somewhat.

If you are prepared to spend a little extra we would recommend you opt for the ITM 5900 over this model.
