Description
The Ironman IFT 4000 inversion table is one of the best inversion tables that features infrared heat therapy technology.
Even without the inclusion of the heat therapy function, many agree that the Ironman IFT 4000 is an excellent choice of inversion table.
The heavy duty inversion table is able to hold up to 350 lbs in weight, making it stronger than the average inversion table.
It is suitable for users between the heights of 4 ft 9″ and 6 ft 6″.
This well rated inversion table also has lots of additional features that make it a very complete inversion table to consider.
When it comes to choosing the best inversion table, many often consider the Ironman range and the Teeter range of inversion tables to be best options available. And out of all of the Ironman inversion tables available, this is widely considered to be one of the top 2 choices.
Ironman IFT 4000 inversion table features
Padded backrest with infrared heat therapy:
The most striking feature of this particular inversion table has to be the large padded backrest, which certainly gives this inversion table a very unique and stylish look.
The backrest is padded with 2.5 inches of memory foam which provides great comfort for the user.
The backrest is also very large and spacious, which in addition to the higher than average weight capacity makes this inversion table a good choice for larger users.
Built into the bed are carbon fiber heating elements. The elements can be controlled via a remote control or the LED display control to provide heat therapy to the user while inverted should they wish.
Using the remote control / LED display you can adjust the duration (0 – 60 mins) and the temperature (90 – 140 degrees F) of the heating elements to suit your individual preference.
So is the heating function a worthwhile feature?
It is stated that the use of heating elements help to soothe muscles and could help reduce back pain while increasing circulation which may help injured muscles recover faster.
Many buyers do seem to love the heat therapy that this table can provide, although many admit to not using this function very often. This is perhaps due to the fact it takes 10 – 15 minutes to heat up.
One issue occasionally found with inversion tables with heat therapy functions, is that the heating elements can fail and stop working and a few users have found this to be true with this model.
It is also worth pointing out that the 1 year warranty provided by Ironman only covers the frame and all other components are only covered for 90 days!
As you will see as we go further down the page, this is a very good inversion table even without the heat therapy function. However, if the heat function is not hugely important to you we would also recommend taking a look at the cheaper Ironman Gravity 4000 which is a fairly similar model.
Ratchet ankle locking system and Tether strap angle limiter:
The extra long ankle lever is a feature that is becoming more and more common on inversion tables these days.
It is a feature that may often be overlooked by the more agile among us, but is a very good feature if you prefer to avoid putting strain upon your back.
The extra long lever is easy to use and is palm activated, allowing for effortless securing of the ankles into the dual cupped ankle supports.
The Tether strap angle limitation system is a fairly standard feature found on many inversion tables.
If you do not wish to fully invert, you can set the tether strap to a restricted length, in order to restrict the angle of inversion to a lesser one that you feel more comfortable with.
This is a particularly useful feature for beginners to inversion therapy.
Extra long side handles and stretch handles:
The extra long side handles are a fairly standard feature on most inversion tables. They are especially handy when returning into an upright position safely.
The stretch handles situated on the floor bar at the back of the inversion table frame are not a feature commonly found on other inversion tables.
As you can see in the image to the right, these additional stretch handles are great for performing extra stretches while inverted. They also provide additional support and stability while inverting at higher angles.
